2020 Annual Year-End Cat Letter

For this year’s holiday card, I painted a picture and then uploaded it to RedBubble to have it printed onto cards!

The card looked like this:

I also created a photo collage card with all the cats which you can see below the letter.

The 2020 Annual letter

Hi Friends,

I hope this letter finds you well.

2020 will set a record for the number of hours Heidi has spent with the cats. She’s been working from home since mid-March due to the pandemic.

The cats liked the extra time with Heidi. A few of them help her work by joining video calls with her teammates and typing messages.

This year we fostered two cats. In April, Max was a friendly stray from a friend’s yard, with a horrible case of ear mites. We kept him in the garage, and Heidi spent many hours holding him until the Humane Society was able to take him in. Due to COVID, we were required to have him neutered at a regular vet before we could drop him off, as the Humane Society wasn’t doing surgeries at that time.

Then in September, Rocko, a very friendly cat that had been abandoned in a parking lot. He didn’t do well cooped up in the garage playpen. We decided to keep him, but after a couple of months, he wasn’t working out with some of the other cats (especially Nacho). We made the tough decision to surrender him to the Humane Society.

Please do your part to help reduce cat overpopulation by spaying or neutering your cats. If you feed them, fix them!

Our indoor cats, Lina, Buster, Violet, Jake, Elwood, Taco, Nacho, and Charlotte, are mostly doing well.

Lina (who is 17) has struggled with chronic sinus issues since May. She has become picky about drinking water, and we now have a water fountain where the water flows in a way that is acceptable to her. She starred in a YouTube video review of the fountain.

The outdoor cats are Midnight, Charcoal, and Pork Chop. Ted upgraded their feeding station this fall to keep rain and snow out. This will be the first winter where they can eat without snow at their feet.

Heidi petted Pork Chop for the first time this year! All three were treated for worms, which improved their coats (less matted and shinier).

When Charcoal had a broken, infected tooth removed, anemia was discovered with his blood work. After a month of treatment, his levels were back to normal, and the bad tooth may have caused it. He has Feline Leukemia Virus and FIV, so any issues are extra concerning.

Heidi continues to enjoy painting cat art. She painted the front of this Christmas card. We have 11 cats now but there are 12 cats in the card as when Heidi painted it, she included Rocko as that was before we decided another home was best for him.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Heidi and Ted

  1. Beautiful card and meaningful message — thank you for all you do for the cats we love so much, and to educate readers as to the importance of spay/neuter! Wishing you and all your loved ones a happy winter holiday season — stay safe and well, and may Lina and Charcoal feel better soon!
